For example if you are conservative religious person, then go to a hardcore rock concert, or vice verse, if you have never been to a church service, then do so. Of course you won't feel comfortable and it will seem foreign to you. But it will be good for your mind. You will see how other people think and act differently to you. You may not agree, but you will learn. I have done this for many years now, and I have learned a lot about others and myself through this activity. I have met some interesting people, and even made a friend or two. The real power of this activity is that it highlights how you have been conforming to a set of norms that you have taken for granted. Something similar happens when people travel overseas and experience different cultures. It opens their eyes to 'other ways', and highlights their own cultural norms.
