I have been rich, and I have been poor. Believe me when I tell you, rich is better. Being rich allows you to have freedom and flexibility to do what your heart desires. Even though there are problems that come with being rich, if you are rich, you get to arrive to those problems in style.
I have said on this blog previously that those who say that money cannot buy happiness (and are in good health), don’t know where to shop. The purpose of this blog is to inspire you to be the best you can be. Money can really help in personal development when used wisely. Money is power; the power to lead to the life you want; the power to develop your talents and make a contribution to others.
It is your right to be rich. I want to be rich and I want you to be rich too. This new series (Get Rich Series) will walk you through The Science of Getting Rich. It is a classic book by Wallace D. Wattles. It is a practical manual intended for the men and women whose most pressing need is for money; who wish to get rich first, and philosophize afterward.
Chapter 1 – The Right To Be Rich
WHATEVER may be said in praise of poverty, the fact remains that it is not possible to live a really complete or successful life unless one is rich. No man can rise to his greatest possible height in talent or soul development unless he has plenty of money; for to unfold the soul and to develop talent he must have many things to use, and he cannot have these things unless he has money to buy them with.
A man develops in mind, soul, and body by making use of things, and society is so organized that man must have money in order to become the possessor of things; therefore, the basis of all advancement for man must be the science of getting rich.
The object of all life is development; and everything that lives has an inalienable right to all the development it is capable of attaining.
Man’s right to life means his right to have the free and unrestricted use of all the things which may be necessary to his fullest mental, spiritual, and physical unfoldment; or, in other words, his right to be rich.
In this book, I shall not speak of riches in a figurative way; to be really rich does not mean to be satisfied or contented with a little. No man ought to be satisfied with a little if he is capable of using and enjoying more. The purpose of Nature is the advancement and unfoldment of life; and every man should have all that can contribute to the power, elegance, beauty, and richness of life; to be content with less is sinful.
The man who owns all he wants for the living of all the life he is capable of living is rich; and no man who has not plenty of money can have all he wants. Life has advanced so far, and become so complex, that even the most ordinary man or woman requires a great amount of wealth in order to live in a manner that even approaches completeness. Every person naturally wants to become all that they are capable of becoming; this desire to realize innate possibilities is inherent in human nature; we cannot help wanting to be all that we can be. Success in life is becoming what you want to be; you can become what you want to be only by making use of things, and you can have the free use of things only as you become rich enough to buy them. To understand the science of getting rich is therefore the most essential of all knowledge.
There is nothing wrong in wanting to get rich. The desire for riches is really the desire for a richer, fuller, and more abundant life; and that desire is praise worthy. The man who does not desire to live more abundantly is abnormal, and so the man who does not desire to have money enough to buy all he wants is abnormal.
There are three motives for which we live; we live for the body, we live for the mind, we live for the soul. No one of these is better or holier than the other; all are alike desirable, and no one of the three–body, mind, or soul–can live fully if either of the others is cut short of full life and expression. It is not right or noble to live only for the soul and deny mind or body; and it is wrong to live for the intellect and deny body or soul.
We are all acquainted with the loathsome consequences of living for the body and denying both mind and soul; and we see that real life means the complete expression of all that man can give forth through body, mind, and soul. Whatever he can say, no man can be really happy or satisfied unless his body is living fully in every function, and unless the same is true of his mind and his soul. Wherever there is unexpressed possibility, or function not performed, there is unsatisfied desire. Desire is possibility seeking expression, or function seeking performance.
Man cannot live fully in body without good food, comfortable clothing, and warm shelter; and without freedom from excessive toil. Rest and recreation are also necessary to his physical life.
He cannot live fully in mind without books and time to study them, without opportunity for travel and observation, or without intellectual companionship.
To live fully in mind he must have intellectual recreations, and must surround himself with all the objects of art and beauty he is capable of using and appreciating.
To live fully in soul, man must have love; and love is denied expression by poverty.
A man’s highest happiness is found in the bestowal of benefits on those he loves; love finds its most natural and spontaneous expression in giving. The man who has nothing to give cannot fill his place as a husband or father, as a citizen, or as a man. It is in the use of material things that a man finds full life for his body, develops his mind, and unfolds his soul. It is therefore of supreme importance to him that he should be rich.
It is perfectly right that you should desire to be rich; if you are a normal man or woman you cannot help doing so. It is perfectly right that you should give your best attention to the Science of Getting Rich, for it is the noblest and most necessary of all studies. If you neglect this study, you are derelict in your duty to yourself, to God and humanity; for you can render to God and humanity no greater service than to make the most of yourself.

there is nothing wrong with wanting to be rich, people who have made a difference in this world do not do so on empty pockets. They are rich in totality, rich in spirit, mind and body. Even mother Teresa, could not have helped the people in the slums of culcutta if she dint have something to give…..God wants us to have the good things in life and have them abudantly.. Why not partake of it. You cannot get what your heart doesnt seek out for…
Looking forward to more of this…

Hi Daniel…i totally agree with your post today,we should all be rich.Sometimes back i looked at the rich people and the poor,i tried hard to see the difference and finally i decided to make this decision;I WANT TO BE RICH.When this struck on my mind i asked myself how? After carefull thinking i came up with a way that will enable me to get to accumulate wealth and be successful, this is working for me and i hope it will help those out there who want to get rich.
(1)DEVELOPING PROSPERITY CONCIOUSESS
No one wants to be poor.I believe poverty or richness is a choise we make.It all begins with the state of mind. Both poverty and richness are a state of mind, for me to make that one step to great wealth i had to impress into mind the unshakable belief that i can and will achieve my fiancial goal.
There is this principle that states”caucation is mental”meaning that everthing is as a result of the state of mind. The world you see is an expression of thoughs, the life you live is an expression of your own thinking.
(2)BEING POSITIVE
I realize that i need to be positive in what my goals are and what i want to achieve by taking control of the suggestive elements in my enviroment, ensuring what i listen and see is consistent with what i want to achieve.
(3)THE LAW OF ABANDANCE,ATTRACTION AND EXPECTATION.
The law of abandance;says”there is ample money to everyone who knows to aquire and keep it”
Be learning this i believed that there is always enough for those who really want it.We live in a generous world and we are surounded on both sides with blessings and opportunities to acquire all we truely desire.Your attiitude towards either towards scarcity or abandance will determine whether you become rich or not.
The law of atraction;it says”you are a living magnet”
It says that your thoughts create a force field of energy that radiates out from you and atracts back into your life people and circumstances in harmony with them.
I came to realize that any thought i have ,combined with an emotion, positive or negative, will radiate back from me and attract back into my life the circumstances or ideas & opportunities an consistent with.
The law of expectation;it says “Whatever you expect with confidence, positive or negative becomes your reality”
This tought me to remain confident about what i want in life.If you confidently expect to be successful, wealthy or rich as a result of aplying your talent & ability to your opportunity and maintain the attitude of confident expectation long enough it will become a reality.
(4)LAW OF CORRESPONDANCE
This is a powerful law that states”as within so without”
I realized that the outer world is simply a mirror that reflects your inner world.Everything that happens outside of you corresponds to what happens inside of you.
I try to live by this, expecting great things each day,i still need to learn more from you.I wil keep posted.
Cheers!

I have never seen anything wrong to want more…the question still remains does it change you as a person. Bill gates and Oprah have attracted success through what they do but money is merely a tool, an instrument.
I want one day to build houses that can accomodate people living in slums but I cannot do that without money.
Nice simple green houses.
However, as I grow, I have realised that it is also important to store riches in heaven.Cultivating virtue. Those are the ones if all banks close down and ATMs cannot work you still have your virtues that have defined you.
Money great slave, horrible master!

Hi Brenda,
Them preachers tell us to store our riches in heaven as they drive big fancy cars and live in posh houses. I want to be rich here on earth and in heaven too.
Go green! green for the environment and green for the benjamins.

Hi Brenda..
I would like to asure you that getting rich will DEFINIETLY change you as an individual.God wants us to be rich and he said in his word”let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven..”he simply implied that we picture the kind of life in heaven and imply it here on earth. How will we create a society where there is no want, poverty, insecurity, prostitution…etc.if we dont learn and as well teach the science of getting rich how will the people embrace financial freedom?how will every parent be able to provide for every child?how will we get the prostitute out of the street and make them financially independent?how will God’s will be done on earth?….am asking myelf alot.
When you say that we should create wealth in heaven remember that whatever is bound on earth is bound in heaven and therefor we should do it here on earth and it shall be done in heaven,
About cultivating virtue,it will start with the creation of wealth(how will the thief or prostitute be able to cultivate this virtue if they are out there because of presure poverty is inflicting on them?)they will need to learn the science of wealth to be set financially free.
Money is not a horrible master!
I believe that it is all about the choises we make, when you decide to let money work for you;you will be able to live a happy and fullfilled life but when you decide to work for money(the bigining of evil)you become miserable and desperate, this is because you lack control on it and you can never get enough. This will lead to wickedness and evil ways since someone may be forced to do evil things just to posess it.
Its all about you perception.
proverbs 13:11 “wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished;but he that gathereth by labour shall increase”
God has all this wealth in abandance and he is waiting for you and me to work out the science of wealth and behold it shall be increased.Remember the parable of taents???…
Cheers!
