We are born free but gradually become prisoners or hostages of emotions, environment or circumstances. The process is so gradual we never realize it is happening until we end up deep in captivity. There are no loud sirens, hand cuffs, guns or judges before incarceration. But once behind the bars, we loose our freedom and rights. To be successful we need to let freedom ring. (more…)

What does intolerance have to do with success? Surprisingly – a lot! Success in life calls for constantly learning from people around us. People are different in looks, shapes, beliefs, tastes, habits, views etc. If you don’t accept or at least respect diversity in people, it will limit how high you can soar.
Intolerance is the unwillingness to recognize and respect differences in opinions and beliefs. Intolerant people are narrow minded about cherished opinions and do not accept people who have a different way of life. Intolerance is cultivated by social conditioning. To rise above mediocrity, we must shun intolerance by taking active steps to respect diversity. (more…)
Mediocrity is defined as ordinariness as a consequence of being average and not outstanding. Being mediocre means lacking exceptional quality or ability. It is where you and I end up by default, without even trying. It does not take much effort to be mediocre. But it does take effort, special skills and discipline to break away.
We live in a society that rewards winners. The winner takes it all in most cases. I am therefore pressing the case that you to rise above mediocrity and become a winner. Be a winner in your chosen field because being second rate does not cut it any more. If you have it in you to be the very best, why settle for less? (more…)
Your success or failure in life will be reflected on your obituary unless someone manipulates the truth on your behalf. Writing your own private obituary is an out of the box way of thinking about your life and what you call success.
It is an excellent way to put your life in perspective and I recommend that you try it. Many people would rather not think about it. There is comfort in not thinking about death. It is a taboo subject. But given a long enough time line we shall all cease to exist. Why not use this taboo subject to change the course of your destiny to improve the days and years ahead? (more…)

I am eager to inspire you to be the best you can be by running your life like a corporation. However, it was not exactly easy for me to write this post because of two little guys between my ears.
Have you ever tried doing something and literally had two voices in your head? It happened to me today. One voice was telling me that corporations have a very high mortality rate. That the failure rate for small business is too high for me to even ask you to run your life like one.
The other voice was telling me that many corporations tend to outlive humans. This particular voice was saying that if you heed the lessons in this blog post, you may live a bit longer.
Running your life like a corporation may or may not add to your years on earth. But there are 10 ways you can move towards success by running your life like a business. So lets get down to business: (more…)
Kaizen is the process of reaching your goals in life by harnessing the amazing power of baby steps. It is a simple concept imported from Japan, that can transform your life if you apply it.
According to Wikipedia, “Kaizen (continuous improvement) is a Japanese philosophy that focuses on continuous improvement throughout all aspects of life. When applied to the workplace, Kaizen activities continually improve all functions of a business, from manufacturing to management and from the CEO to the assembly line workers.”
Instead of focusing on giant leaps towards your life goals, you can apply the principles of Kaizen to better yourself each and every day. Kaizen is all about making small changes and monitoring results, then adjusting. Instead of big overwhelming goals, you can have smaller goals, which can be rapidly adapted and accomplished. (more…)
What kind of seeds are you planting in your life right now? Whether you realize it or not, you are a farmer. You are always planting and harvesting. Every thing you do is a seed in the garden of life. You plant seeds both through your actions and inaction. Just like clockwork these seeds will germinate, grow and come back to bless or bite you. My friend, that clock is ticking.
I had the privilege of growing up on a little farm at the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya. I have first hand experience in farming. We grew corn, beans, potatoes and pumpkins. During the planting season, just after tilling the land, we would go to the granary and get the preserved seeds for planting. The farm had a section for corn and a section for potatoes. We planted corn at the corn section and the potatoes at the potatoes section. During harvest we would harvest each type of crop from it’s designated section. Sounds simple right? How is it then that in life we get tempted to try and harvest corn from the potatoes section? Why is it that we want to harvest success after planting seeds of failure? (more…)
When I bought my first car in Perth, Western Australia in the summer of 1999 ( a lovely navy blue Ford Laser, 1982 model), I took it for a spin to Scarborough Beach. This car was brand new to me. I had never owned a car in my life, so I was pretty excited. It did not have air con so I unwound the windows and cranked up the music.
Then something weird happened. I saw someone driving the exact same type and age of car as my car. Then another one, then another one. On an 20 kilometer drive I saw a total of seven cars, just like mine, but not quite mine. I was tuned in to the Ford Laser 1982 channel, and that is why I saw so many of them.
What channel is your mind tuned in to? What is the primary thought running through your mind? What channel is influencing you in ways that you cannot even begin to imagine?
We never really step back and analyze our thought patterns. But they are critical to success and happiness. Whatever you think about, you become. So please pay special attention to today’s blog post. (more…)
This website is dedicated to helping you be the best you can be. To inspire you to reach your potential for success. But how do you define success?
Each person I have met thinks of success in their own unique way. For some, having a great family life is success, for others having material possessions is what makes them feel successful. I will let you tell me what you think of success at the comments section at the end of this article. But in the mean time, let me define what success means to me. (more…)
For the better part of 2008, I kept thinking of starting this blog as a way of connecting with my friends online, not as the anonymous advertiser I had been for the preceding 7 years, but as a human being with a name, as a friend, and as a family member.
This blog post is the beginning of this site’s journey. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. I dedicate this blog to bringing out the best in you through the power of positive thinking. (more…)
Like dormant volcanoes, we all have passions that are just there; not active, not extinct.
Dormant passions take away a piece of us. We sit and think how things could have been. We sit and wish we had taken a different turn in life. Unfortunately, wishing alone will not ignite the fire within, or awaken the giant in you. Today’s blog post is dedicated to inspiring you to find satisfaction in your soul by rekindling your dormant passion. (more…)
